H-1B Visa Ban: America is preparing to ban H-1B Visa, government is bringing a new bill
Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene said she is introducing a bill to end the mass displacement of American workers by phasing out the H-1B program. If introduced, the bill would further fuel the ongoing congressional and public debate over the future of the H-1B program and broader immigration reform efforts.
H-1B Visa Ban: The United States is soon going to deal another blow to India. In fact, US President Donald Trump’s Republican Party is going to introduce a bill in Parliament that would eliminate H-1B visas. Just a few days ago, the US drastically increased the fees for H-1B visas, making this visa a distant dream for Indians. Meanwhile, Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene said she is introducing a bill to end the “massive displacement of American workers by phasing out the H-1B program.”
Ominous Sign for Indian Professionals
The Trump administration’s move against the H-1B program is an ominous sign for Indian professionals, who are the largest beneficiaries of this temporary work visa. H-1B visas are also used as a path to obtaining US citizenship through green cards. Republican Party leader Marjorie Taylor Greene accused US companies of abusing the program to reduce the benefits of American employees.
What the Republican lawmaker said
“Big tech companies, artificial intelligence giants, hospitals, and all industries have abused the H-1B system to put their own people out of jobs,” she said in a post on X on Thursday. She added, “Americans are the most talented people in the world, and I have complete faith in the American people. I serve only Americans, and I will always put Americans first.”
American talent will get priority
She said the bill proposes to end the H-1B program and prioritize American workers in fields like technology, healthcare, engineering, and manufacturing. “My bill ends the corrupt H-1B program and prioritizes Americans again in technology, healthcare, engineering, manufacturing, and every industry that drives this country!! If we want the next generation to realize the American dream, we must stop replacing them and start investing in them,” she said in the post.
Doctors and nurses will receive an exemption
Greene said, “Our bill provides an exemption for issuing 10,000 visas per year for medical professionals like doctors and nurses.” She added that this exemption will be phased out after 10 years. However, Greene also said that the 10,000-per-year limit will also be phased out over a decade to provide time to develop local teams of American doctors and physicians.
