The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has taken a major step to strengthen metro connectivity between Noida and Greater Noida. The detailed design process for three proposed metro routes will begin in December.

New Metro routes: According to the NMRC’s plan, the total length of the three proposed routes is 31.595 kilometers. Three companies have bid for these projects. The selected company will be responsible for the design, civil structure, electrical and mechanical works, and track-related technical preparation for the three routes over the next five years. The NMRC will pay approximately ₹24.21 crore for this.

The Sector 51 to Knowledge Park corridor, with a length of 17.345 kilometers and proposed stations of 11, is the longest route and is currently under consideration by the central government.

The second route is 11.56 kilometers long and will have 8 proposed stations. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) is expected to be issued soon for this project.

The third route is 2.6 kilometers long and will have two proposed stations. This short but important route has already received central government approval. Soil testing is currently underway.

According to the NMRC, solar panels will be installed on the rooftops of all metro stations on all three routes. These will supply electricity to each station, making operations more economical and environmentally friendly.

Topographic surveys of the route from Sector 142 to Botanical Garden and from the Greater Noida Depot to Bodaki have been completed. This report will now be submitted to the DDC to finalize pillar construction and engineering designs.

NMRC officials said that as soon as the selection of the design consultant is completed, the work of preparing the design drawings will be started from the month of December.
