Delhi Weather: Delhi’s air turns toxic again, pollution wreaks havoc with winter
Delhi Weather Update: Air quality in Delhi has reached “severe” levels. Pollution has increased further as temperatures have dropped to 12 degrees, making it difficult for people to breathe.
Delhi Weather Update: With the onset of winter, pollution has worsened in Delhi. The situation has become so dire that even going outside poses a health hazard. Smoke from factories, heavy traffic, dust from construction projects, and stubble burning in neighboring states are concentrating on polluting Delhi’s air quality so severely that experts are calling it a direct lung attack. New Delhi recorded an AQI of 486, which falls in the hazardous category.
AQI in 7 areas of Delhi in the ‘Severe’ category
The Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached dangerous levels in many parts of Delhi. In 7 areas, the air quality has reached such a poor level that it can directly impact people’s health. Bawana has an AQI of 420, Wazirpur: 385, Alipur: 372, RK Puram: 334, Patparganj: 355, and Burari: 348.
Experts say that this type of air weakens the lung capacity of those who breathe it constantly. Children, the elderly, pregnant women, and asthma patients need to be especially cautious.
When will Delhi see relief?
According to meteorologists, the situation isn’t likely to change much for a few days. Relief will only come when temperatures rise slightly and wind speeds increase. Winds lift pollution and disperse toxic particles near the ground, improving the AQI.
Delhi’s Temperature and Air Conditions
Today, Saturday (November 15), Delhi’s minimum temperature is expected to be 12°C and the maximum temperature 27.5°C. The weather will be mildly warm during the day and pleasantly cool at night. The wind speed has been recorded at 6.1 km per hour, which is still too low for improvement.
For now, the best way for Delhiites to avoid this pollution crisis is to remain vigilant. It may take some time for the air to become clean.
