Punjab’s voice abroad: Param bridges culture and charisma from Dubai airwaves to global stages
His journey began in 2007 with Al Khaleej Radio, Dubai, where his natural flair for connecting with listeners quickly made him stand out. His hit show ‘Sada Virsa’ became a cultural lifeline for Punjabis abroad, celebrating language, music and roots with pride.
Radio soon led to television and before long, Param had become a household name. At one point, he was hosting 16 to 17 shows across every major Punjabi TV channel — from PTV, Zee Punjabi and MH One to Josh TV and 9X Tashan. “On Sundays,” he laughs, “I’d be on all Punjabi channels at once — 8 am to 8 pm!”
But it is his long-standing collaborations with Punjabi legends that truly cemented his reputation. For over a decade, Param has been the official anchor for Gurdas Maan, hosting over 400-500 shows worldwide. “Maan Saab is a pillar of Punjab,” Param says. “He gives his artistes love, respect and the chance to shine. He’d always make sure I had my moment to speak and connect with the crowd.” Together, they performed for thousands across the US, Canada, Dubai, Africa and beyond.
Param’s stage charisma also drew Diljit Dosanjh, with whom he worked for seven years. “Diljit has an aura,” Param says. “He’s not just a singer or actor — he’s a complete performer. Sharing the stage with him is like being part of a live movie.”
Behind the glitz, Param is grounded in classical training. A Sangeet Visharad in tabla from Pracheen Kala Kendra, he combines rhythm and communication effortlessly, with over 1,500 live shows worldwide.
Growing up in Chandigarh, Param was equally passionate about hockey and music. “I’d play all morning, then hang out at recording studios just to see how songs took shape,” he recalls. Friends eventually nudged him toward radio, knowing his voice had that spark.
As a singer, Param has released tracks including ‘Lawaan’, ‘My Love’, ‘Laado’, ‘Gurh Di Dali’ and ‘Tere Piche Crazy’.
Today, Param represents a confident new generation from Chandigarh making waves in entertainment. “Education and exposure have given us an edge,” he says. “We know our craft and carry our culture with pride.”
Next up? A podcast that promises to be as spontaneous as his shows — featuring big names from Bollywood and beyond. “It won’t be scripted,” Param smiles. “Just real conversations, from the heart — the way I’ve always liked it.”
