As part of the National Day Celebrations, now known as Eid Al Etihad, all public sector offices will have a holiday on December 1 and 2. This will enable the residents to enjoy a four-day extended weekend, combining the preceding Saturday and Sunday.
The UAE government announced on Monday that all ministries and federal entities will resume regular working hours on Wednesday.
Eid Al Etihad is celebrated every year on December 2 to mark the founding day of the UAE in 1971, when the seven emirates united to form the United Arab Emirates. The UAE National Day was christened the Eid Al Ethihad, roughly translating to ‘Festival of the Union’ in Arabic, in 2024 to reflect the spirit of togetherness.
Earlier this year, the UAE Cabinet had taken a resolution that allowed public holidays to be transferred to the start or end of the week if they fell on a weekend. An earlier announcement had set Tuesday, December 2, and Wednesday, December 3, as paid holiday for Eid Al Etihad. This year, the holidays have been moved to Monday, December 1, and Tuesday, December 2.
The official opening will be held at Al Siyouh Family Park on November 19. The festivities will continue till December 2.
There will be daily activities in Sharjah National Park from November 19 to December 2. Kshisha Park, a recreational park in the Al Rahmaniyah suburb, will also have similar activities. These will include children's shows, youth panels, and traditional performances.
The heritage village in the coastal settlement of Al Hamriyah will host classic car exhibitions and traditional performances between November 20 and 22.
Another heritage village in Mleiha will witness folk dances and military bands on November 20 and 21.
