India has now responded to this decision. India has stated that it has taken note of this decision and will engage constructively with all stakeholders with an eye on peace, democracy, and stability in the neighboring country.
Death sentence has been awarded
Indeed, Sheikh Hasina has been found guilty of crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Tribunal of Bangladesh. The International Criminal Tribunal has sentenced her to death for this. Sheikh Hasina had previously expressed the possibility of a similar verdict being passed by the International Criminal Tribunal.
Regarding the verdict, India’s Ministry of External Affairs stated that as a close neighbor, India is committed to the best interests of the people of Bangladesh. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that India has taken note of the verdict delivered by the International Criminal Tribunal of Bangladesh regarding former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh on August 5 last year following widespread protests. She has been living in India since then. After Hasina’s departure, Muhammad Yunus assumed power in Bangladesh and is the head of the interim government.
