TV channels new advisory: Following the Delhi blasts, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Tuesday issued a new advisory for all private television channels, advising them not to broadcast scenes that promote or support illegal activities.

TV Channels New Advisory: Following the recent blast near the Red Fort in Delhi, some television channels aired reports related to the manufacturing of explosives. Following this, the government took action and issued new guidelines. 13 people were killed in the Delhi terror blast.

What’s special about the new guidelines?

The advisory issued to all private TV channels stated, “It has come to the Ministry’s notice that some news channels are broadcasting content related to individuals allegedly involved in the blast near the Red Fort, justifying their acts of violence, and also broadcasting informational videos about the manufacturing of explosives. Such broadcasts may inadvertently promote or incite violence, disrupt public order, and pose a threat to national security.”

Sensitivity advised while reporting

The advisory stated, “All TV channels are advised to exercise the highest level of discretion and sensitivity while reporting on such matters.”

Such content must be avoided

The advisory issued by the Ministry states that no program should contain anything obscene, defamatory, deliberately false, or suggestive innuendos or half-truths. It should also not contain anything that encourages or incites violence, anything against the maintenance of law and order, promotes anti-national tendencies, or anything that affects the integrity of the nation. The advisory states that all TV channels are advised to avoid broadcasting scenes that promote or encourage illegal activities.
