Sirsa shuts key road for overbridge work; traffic diverted

The road from Bhuman Shah Chowk to Chatargarh Patti railway level crossing on the bypass has been closed as the construction of the overbridge begins. All vehicles have been stopped from using this stretch, and traffic has been diverted to alterntive routes to avoid inconvenience.

The police have set up signboards, barricades and deployed traffic staff at diversion points. Officers have urged the public to use other available routes during the repair work.

The police also issued an advisory for heavy vehicles. Drivers have been told not to enter the city between 7 am and 8 pm. Violators will face action. The heavy vehicle drivers must follow lane discipline on the highway and avoid entering no-entry zones in the city.

The authorities warned drivers not to stop vehicles unnecessarily on the highway, as it caused traffic jams and increased the risk of accidents. The drivers have been asked to use reflector tape on their vehicles and place warning triangles in case of breakdowns so that oncoming traffic can see them.

The police said the heavy vehicles often blocked city roads, causing jams and trouble for residents. Loading and unloading in no-entry areas should be done only at night. The drivers have been asked to follow traffic rules and support police efforts to improve traffic flow and reduce accidents.
