Homebound OTT Release: Ishaan Khatter–Vishal Jethwa’s Oscar Entry Arrives on Netflix Soon

New Delhi: Homebound is now prepared to launch on the OTT platform following widespread praise. For those who don’t know, the movie starring Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa is India’s official Oscar 2025 entry. 

At the Cannes Film Festival, the movie won praise from critics and a nine-minute standing ovation. Additionally, it placed second in the Toronto Film Festival’s 2025 International People’s Choice Award.

OTT giant took to it’s social profiles and shared the official note that Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor’s film will stream on Netflix starting November 21. ‘A long road home. A friend that feels like home. Two childhood friends take their shot at living a life of dignity, but there’s a long battle to be won. India’s Official Selection for Best International Feature Film at the 98th Oscars, Homebound, is out 21 November on Netflix,’ read it’s caption.

Who is responsible for Homebound?

Neeraj Ghaywan, a National Award-winning director whose first film, Masaan, won the hearts of movie buffs, is the writer and director of Homebound. Syed Zaid Ali, Marijke Desouza, Melita Toscan du Plantier, Karan Johar, Pravin Khairnar, Apoorva Mehta, Somen Mishra, Adar Poonawalla, and Martin Scorsese are the film’s producers.

Review of Homebound: India TV’s decision

In her review of the film, Sakshi Verma of India TV commented, “Homebound is not just a film; it is a statement, but the one made through quiet dignity, through people we come to know and care for.” It demonstrates how friendship may be a lifeline when everything else fails and how hope endures despite structural injustice. Neeraj Ghaywan has created a film that is worth watching, talking about, and experiencing. It’s a movie that India needs and one that goes beyond. We are asked to testify in Homebound rather than just observe. As a result, the movie merits four stars.
