Alert for India as Pakistan plans to build an artificial island near…, Trump’s plan is…

Pakistan island update: In a significant global development, India’s debt-laden neighbour has taken a step which has surprised everyone. In the recent development, the Shehbaz Sharif government of Pakistan has decided to build an artificial island on its coast. As per media reports, state-owned energy company Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) is planning to build an island near Sujawal, about 30 kilometers off the coast of Sindh. Here are all the details you need to know about the plan to build artificial island in the country.

What is Pakistan planning in Sindh?

As per media reports citing Bloomberg, Arjad Palekar, general manager of exploration and core business development at Pakistani company PPL, said the artificial island will rise six feet and allow round-the-clock drilling, marking Pakistan’s first use of man-made islands for energy exploration, drawing inspiration from comparable projects in Abu Dhabi.

Slated to finish by February, the construction will commence, with around 25 wells planned.

Donald Trump’s plan on oil extraction in Pakistan

The update has raised eyebrows as US President Donald Trump had announced an agreement to develop Pakistan’s oil reserves this year.

“We have reached a deal with Pakistan, under which both countries will develop their vast oil reserves. We are selecting the oil company that will lead this partnership”, US President Donald Trump wrote on social media explaining the deal.

Pakistan’s massive coastline

Readers should note that Pakistan has huge coastline of 300,000-square-kilometer, which borders Oman, the UAE, and Iran, has only 18 wells drilled so far. The development on private island is a point of concern for India because the rising Pakistan-US relations can have negative implications on the Indian economy.
