Nine Hoshiarpur residents pledge organs as DC launches donation drive

A district-level organ donation campaign, dedicated to the 350th martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur, was launched by Hoshiarpur Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain in collaboration with Acting Civil Surgeon Dr Seema Garg. During the launch, nine residents pledged to donate their organs.

The Deputy Commissioner said the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur exemplifies humanity, compassion and sacrifice, and organ donation is an act that can save multiple lives. The Deputy Commissioner informed that the campaign, being run by the Health Department in partnership with the Eye Donation Association, Hoshiarpur, will continue till November 25. As part of the initiative, awareness seminars, programmes and camps will be organised across the district to educate people about the significance of organ donation and encourage wider participation.

Speaking on the occasion, Acting Civil Surgeon Dr Seema Garg said those wishing to donate organs can register by visiting the link notto.abdm.gov.in and filling out a simple form, using only their Aadhaar card and the mobile number linked to it.

The Deputy Commissioner and Civil Surgeon also honoured the nine individuals who pledged to donate their organs by presenting them with certificates. The donors include Harvinder Kaur, Bimla Devi, Harkanwal Singh, Sukhdev Singh Dhillon, Baljinder Singh, Prof Bahadur Singh Sunet, Baljit Singh Panesar, Gurpal Singh and Prem Saini. Additionally, an employee of the District Administrative Complex also pledged to donate her organs.
