'Eko' box office collection Day 2: Set to witness exceptional growth in collections

Thrillers, when made solidly, seldom fail to create ripples in Mollywood. Dinjith Ayyathan's Eko is the latest entry to this list as the film is gaining exceptional reviews worldwide. The film endured a modest opening day in Kerala, grossing Rs 73 lakh but the trend through the day was superb with night shows experiencing a massive surge.

The trends for the second day suggest a much bigger day for Eko at the Kerala box office. The advance booking for the day is in itself approximately 50 percent higher than Friday and the superstrong word-of-mouth means that there should be a considerable amount of walk-ins as well.

According to early estimates, Eko will zoom past Rs 1 crore in Kerala and could even double up from its opening day if the trend continues to be freakish. The spike in occupancy suggests an excellent opening weekend for the film and with no major releases next week, the film should trend well at the box office.

Eko is facing competition from Prithviraj's Vilayath Buddha but the latter is getting mixed feedback with a large section of audience unimpressed with the end product. That means that Eko is quickly becoming the first choice of the audience. This Sandeep Pradeep starrer also features seasoned actors Vineeth and Narain in key roles.

Ashokan, Saiju Kurup and Binu Pappu are the other notable actors in the cast of Eko. It is the final part of writer Bahul Ramesh's 'animal trilogy' after Kishkindha Kaandam and Kerala Crime Files 2.
