69th NSG: Tamil Nadu girls, West Bengal boys clinch TT gold

JAMMU, Nov 23: The 69th National School Games-2025 U-19 Table Tennis Championship witnessed thrilling finales as the Tamil Nadu girls’ team edged past West Bengal by 3-2 to secure the gold medal, while the West Bengal boys’ team defeated Delhi by 3-2 to claim the top honours. The championship is being held at the Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu and has emerged as a major platform for young table tennis talent across India.
Organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Jammu and Kashmir, the event has drawn participation from 34 States, Union Territories and affiliated sports organisations, making it one of the most competitive editions in recent years. The championship is conducted under the aegis of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), with Anuradha Gupta, Director General, Youth Services and Sports J&K, leading the initiative and Vinakshi Koul, Joint Director, serving as the Organising Secretary.
In the boys’ category, Karnataka secured third place, followed by Tamil Nadu in fourth. In the girls’ section, Maharashtra and Rajasthan claimed third and fourth positions respectively. The finals saw intense rallies, strategic game play and remarkable composure under pressure, reflecting the high standard of competition and the dedication of the players.
The championship not only provides a stage for young athletes to showcase their skills but also promotes the values of sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork. Spectators enthusiastically cheered the players, highlighting the growing interest in school-level sports in the country.
