Two-day blood donation camp by PGI docs begins

The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, launched a two-day blood donation camp today in memory of the victims of the recent Pahalgam terror attack.

Held under the banner ‘Together We Heal’, the camp was inaugurated by PGIMER Director Prof Vivek Lal, who led by example by donating blood himself.

“Today is a moment of unity,” said Prof Lal, while addressing a gathering of resident doctors and staff. “The initiative transcends a mere call for donations; it embodies our solidarity, compassion, and humanity toward those in distress. I encouraged our residents to mark this tragic moment with a blood donation camp—and I hope my own donation inspires others to step forward.”

Reflecting on his three decades of service in promoting blood and organ donation, Prof Lal added, “When the opportunity arises to donate, we must seize it. These acts are among the noblest, and the PGIMER takes pride in leading from the front.”

Association president Vishnu Jinja, said the tragedy had deeply affected the medical community. “By donating blood, we not only honour the memories of the victims, but also ignite hope and healing for their families,” he said.
