Three injured as car overturns while driver tries to avert crash at PPR Market
Chaos prevailed in the PPR Market area on Tuesday afternoon when a car overturned while its driver tried to avert a sudden crash with an oncoming Activa scooter, leaving three people injured. The injured include the car driver and two youths riding the scooter. One of the injured sustained serious head injuries. Both the vehicles were extensively damaged in the collision.
The car, driven by Manohar Lal, a supervisor at Ankur Hospital, was navigating the area when an Activa suddenly appeared from the opposite direction. In an attempt to avert collision, Lal swerved, lost control of the car and ended up overturning the vehicle. Lal said despite his efforts to avoid a direct hit, the car collided with the scooter, knocking both riders to the ground.
Eyewitnesses rushed to help the injured and immediately arranged for their transport to a nearby hospital. Manohar Lal, who also suffered injuries in the crash, said, “The road was empty when suddenly the Activa came in front of my vehicle. I tried to steer away, but the car overturned and collided with the scooter. I got hurt too.”

Lal said his family was based in Una. He said Ankur Hospital authorities were informed shortly about the incident. The police arrived at the spot soon after receiving information about the accident. According to the investigating officer (IO), preliminary findings suggest that the driver might have lost control over the car due to a manhole on the road. “It appears that the car went out of control while its driver trying to avoid collision with the scooter and then overturned, hitting the two youths riding the two-wheeler,” the IO said.
The injured Activa riders are residents of Ravindra Nagar. One of them suffered serious head injuries and remains under observation, while the other sustained minor injuries. Jagjivan, father of one of the youths, reached the hospital shortly after being informed about the accident.
The police said both the parties were receiving medical treatment and their statements would be recorded once their conditions stabilised. “Based on their accounts and medical reports, further legal action will be taken,” the IO said. “The damaged vehicles have been taken into police custody for investigation,” he said.
Meanwhile, the incident has once again drawn attention towards road safety concerns, where sudden obstructions and poor conditions have become common hazards for motorists.
