'No mission too distant, no sea too vast': Is Indian Navy sending a subtle message after Pahalgam attack?

A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met chiefs of three services and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and told them that they have "complete operational freedom" to decide on the mode, targets and timing of India's response to the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, the Indian Navy came out with a cryptic tweet.

In a tweet that highlights the operational preparedness of the force, the Indian Navy said, "Fuelling the Maritime Might - No mission too distant, No Sea too vast."

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan were also part of the meeting held by PM Modi. "They have complete operational freedom to decide on the mode, targets and timing of our response," a source quoted the prime minister as saying.

The tweet from the Indian Navy comes after Pakistan claimed it has "credible intelligence" that India is planning military action against it in the next 24-36 hours. Pakistan has also urged the international community to remain alert, warning that any military action by India would be responded to decisively and that the onus of any escalatory spiral and its consequences shall squarely lie with India.

India has been weighing its options for countermeasures following the terror attack which claimed the lives of 26 tourists. In the past, the government carried out precision strikes inside Pakistan after the terror attack on army soldiers in Uri in 2016 and the Balakot air strike after the killings of CRPF personnel in Pulwama.
