Kids go missing from only one teacher's classroom in 'Weapons', the new horror film from 'Barbarian' director

Why did the kids from only a specific schoolteacher's class go missing one night? Julia Garner — known for the series Ozark and the films Wolf Man and The Assistant— plays Mrs Gandy, a schoolteacher who becomes an object of suspicion when students from only her classroom go missing one night, at precisely the same time: 2.17 am. What caused this chilling phenomenon?
The teaser, trailer and other promotional materials for Weapons promise a scary experience never seen before. Written and directed by Zach Cregger, the much-awaited horror thriller has Josh Brolin and Alden Ehrenreich as the other principal leads. While Brolin plays the distressed father of one of the missing kids, Ehrenreich is seen as a police officer in the film, which will hit theatres on August 8.
Interestingly, the film was once eyed by filmmaker Jordan Peele (Get Out, Nope), who looked at it as a producing vehicle; however, he lost it in a bidding war. In an earlier report in Deadline, there is an account of how Peele's production company Monkeypaw and Universal Pictures were keen to get the film, however, New Line Cinema managed to buy the rights for $38 million, a sum that was $7 million more than the Universal bid.
Multiple theories are floating around about what really happened, with some reports saying that Peele was ready to forego a portion of his contractual backend sum to make up for the short; others say Universal didn't think spending that much was a practical idea.
What's true, though, is that Peele decided to end his relationship with his managers at Artists First, one of whom also manages Cregger, after he lost the bid.
