'Chilliest trip': Ashish Chanchlani reveals name of new web series, releases poster

Comedy YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani on Wednesday finally made a strong comeback to the online space with the announcement of his latest project, a thriller web series titled 'Ekaki', set to release on YouTube this year.

This will be the Indian influencer's first project since the controversy that followed his appearance on an episode of Samay Raina's YouTube series 'India's Got Latent'.

“We whole heartedly invite you for the chilliest trip of the year. Bas yaad rakhna ... EKAKI mein reh kar bhi ... aap kabhi akele nahi rahenge [Just remember, even inside Ekaki, you will never be alone],” he wrote in an Instagram post on Wednesday. Earlier titled '#ACV159', Chanchlani has been building up anticipation for this project through the release of a few YouTube Shorts.

Originally intending to take a brief hiatus from posting YouTube videos on his channel 'ashish chanchlani vines'—which boasts a massive following of 30.7 million followers—in order to focus on 'Ekaki' and his personal life, he was forced to take a longer time away from the digital limelight due to backlash from the 'India's Got Latent' case, where podcaster and influencer Ranveer Allahbadia made an NSFW joke that was not received well.

Apart from Allahbadia and Chanchlani, host Samay Raina, influencer Apoorva Mukhija and comedian Jaspreet Singh also faced a prolonged legal dispute, not to mention scores of digital threats that ruined their mental health.

Written and directed by him, 'Ekaki' will be released under the banner of Chanchlani's new production house, AcvStudios, which he claimed was a “love letter to every ACVIAN”, in a post dated December 8, 2024—on the occasion of his birthday—that also referenced the film as a “comedy of errors” or a “comedy of horrors”, urging the viewer to decide.

The web series' unsettling poster features Chanchlani sporting a fresh, fit look, and holding up a lantern that dimly illuminated an eerie-looking corridor, with hands coming out from everywhere, lunging for him.

Featuring long-time collaborators Akash Dodeja and Rohit Sadhwani, the character posters released on the production studio's page also show quite a few new faces such as Harshh Rane, Sidhant Sarfare, Shashank Shekhar, and Grishim Nawani, promising a wild ride to eager hordes of his fans.
