Disha Salian Death Case: Maharashtra Govt Seeks Time To Reply To Father’s Plea Alleging Rape, Murder And Political Cover-Up
Mumbai: The State government, on Wednesday, sought time to file reply to the petition by father of Disha Salian, Satish Salian, seeking a probe into the mysterious circumstances under which she was found dead in June 2020. Salian was the manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The HC has granted time to State and kept the matter for hearing on 15.
Salian’s pela came up for hearing before a bench of Justices Sarang Kotwal and SM Modak on Wednesday. Public prosecutor Hiten Venegaonkar said the State would file its reply to the petition in two weeks. The court granted time and kept the plea for hearing on June 15.
The plea alleges that Disha Salian was “brutally raped, murdered, and subjected to a politically orchestrated cover-up”. The petition claimed it seeks to expose the web of lies, corruption and suppression of facts behind the murder only to protect certain influential persons.
“The Mumbai police hastily closed the case as a suicide or accidental death, without taking into account forensic evidence, circumstantial proof and eyewitness testimonies,” the plea added.
Justifying the delay in filing the petition, Salian said after his daughter’s death he was “overwhelmed with grief, was systematically misled and manipulated by key figures who orchestrated a false narrative to protect the accused”.
Disha died on June 8, 2020 after falling off the 14th floor of a residential building in suburban Malad. Rajput was found dead in his apartment in suburban Bandra on June 14 the same year. While the city police initially said it was a case of suicide, the CBI was handed over probe in the case later.
