Madhubala couldn’t give…, Dilip Kumar ended the relationship, Mumtaz’s shocking revelation

We all know about the love story of Dilip Kumar and Madhubala, both loved each other very much but this relationship could not reach the stage of marriage. While Madhubala married Kishore Kumar, Dilip Kumar married Saira Bano. Many things have been said about why the relationship between Madhubala and Dilip Kumar broke up, but veteran actress Mumtaz has now revealed a reason which people did not know earlier.

Madhubala and Dilip Kumar were a superhit onscreen pair. The two worked together in “Mughal-e-Azam”, and were considered one of the most iconic couples of Hindi cinema. Her sister once said in an interview that they would have married if there was no court case against B.R. Chopra; the case created a rift in their relationship. However, Mumtaz said in a new interview that they separated because Madhubala could not bear children.

Speaking to journalist Vicky Lalwani, Mumtaz recalled, “Madhubala did not break up with Dilip Kumar. Dilip Kumar separated from her because she could not have children. He then married Saira Banu, who is a very nice person. She took great care of Dilip sahab while he was alive. She was his fan initially. There was a big age difference between the two, but these things do not matter when you are in love.”

She further said, “No one doubts that she loved Dilip Kumar madly. But Dilip sahab wanted a child. Perhaps he married Saira because of the desire to have a child. Madhubala herself told me this. I used to go to meet her, and she was not well at all.”

Mumtaz further said, “She used to say, ‘If I loved anyone in my life, it was Yusuf. But when she came to know that I cannot have children…’ she used to call him Yusuf. The doctor had said that conceiving a child could cost her her life, as she had a heart problem.”

Mumtaz also said that she does not blame Dilip Kumar for this, because every man wants a child. Mumtaz further said, “Even though he loved Madhubala, he must have thought, ‘Let me try with another woman.’ Sadly, he did not have a child even with Saira.”

Madhubala wanted to meet Dilip Kumar after his marriage

Madhubala and Dilip Kumar were in a relationship for a decade. They also worked together in films like “Tarana”, “Amar” and “Sangdil”. Dilip Kumar told in his autobiography that Madhubala wanted to meet him after his marriage to Saira Bano. Remembering Madhubala in his autobiography, Dilip Kumar wrote, “After our marriage, when we were living in Madras, I got a message from Madhubala that she wanted to meet me immediately. I immediately went to tell Saira and she said that I should meet Madhubala, as she might be a little upset.” Madhubala later married Kishore Kumar, but that relationship also had a tragic end. Madhubala died in 1969 at the age of 36. Dilip Kumar died in 2021 at the age of 98.
