Pahalgam attack: AAP urges Centre to take decisive action against Pak

In the wake of the terror attack in Pahalgam, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday called upon the Central Government to take decisive action against Pakistan and reclaim Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The party said the time had come for the country to eliminate the “breeding ground” of terrorism.

Addressing a press conference in Delhi, AAP Delhi State president Saurabh Bharadwaj invoked the leadership of former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee and said the present moment demanded similar resolve from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“History gives very few such opportunities to a Prime Minister. In 1971, Indira Gandhi had one. In 1999, Atal Bihari Vajpayee had one. In 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has one,” said Bharadwaj.

“He must raise the Indian Flag in that part of Jammu and Kashmir which has been under illegal occupation by Pakistan for years,” he said.

Bharadwaj claimed PoK was the “epicentre of terrorism, home to training camps, launching pads and infrastructure used to wage attacks on India”. “So long as PoK remains under Pakistan’s control, the threat of terrorism will persist,” he said.

Referring to the recent Pahalgam attack, one of the deadliest in recent years, Bharadwaj said the nation was seething with rage and stood united behind the armed forces. “The Prime Minister simply needs to give the signal. Our brave soldiers are capable of bringing PoK back to India. The real question is does the government have faith in their valour?”

Echoing the sentiment, AAP’s national media in-charge Anurag Dhanda said there was a national consensus for a bold step. “Swatting mosquitoes won’t work anymore. We must destroy the breeding ground of terrorism itself,” he said.

He asserted that while India had retaliated strongly in the past, terror camps in PoK had been rebuilt. “It’s clear now merely killing terrorists isn’t enough. We must take control of the source,” he added.

Calling PoK’s reintegration a matter of both national security and justice, Dhanda said, “Jammu and Kashmir had legally acceded to India. PoK was seized deceitfully by Pakistan. Reclaiming it is not just about territory, it’s about uprooting terrorism once and for all.”

Both leaders reiterated their party’s full support to the Armed Forces and urged the government to show political will. “The country is ready. The Army is prepared. The decision now lies with the government,” Dhanda said.
