Virender Sehwag picks 10 great Indian batters in IPL history, omits Shubman Gill and Sanju Samson

New Delhi: Virender Sehwag, a former IPL player, has compiled his top ten list of all-time greatest Indian IPL batsmen. His selection includes prominent figures like Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and MS Dhoni, alongside other notable players. However, Sehwag’s list notably omits current high-scoring players Sanju Samson, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shubman Gill, despite their significant run totals in the IPL.

“First of all, Sachin Tendulkar. How can anyone forget him? He has won a lot of matches on his own. He has been a captain. He has won a lot of trophies. Second number is Virat Kohli. Yes, Virat Kohli has been playing for RCB for 18 years. He has not won a trophy, but he has won the Orange Cap many times,” said Sehwag in a video shared by Cricbuzz on X.

“Third number is Rohit Sharma. He is the captain of Mumbai. He has won 5 trophies for Mumbai. He has also played very well. Then there is Suresh Raina, who is called Mr Consistent in the IPL. He makes more than 400 runs every year. He has been an important batsman for CSK. Then there is his captain, MS Dhoni. Yes, he has been the captain of Chennai. He has also won a lot of trophies. He has played a lot of finals. He has also lost a lot of finals. He has finished a lot of matches.”

“Then there is Shikhar Dhawan. Shikhar Dhawan was an amazing batsman. He was an opener with me. He started with me in the Delhi Daredevils. Then he went to other teams. He has also played very well. Then there is Gautam Gambhir. He has won two trophies. He has played very well. He has played for Delhi and KKR.”

“Then there is Virender Sehwag. Virender Sehwag was a great Delhi Daredevils batsman. He played in the semi-finals of the IPL in the first three years. But he could not win. Then there is KL Rahul. He has gone to a lot of teams. But I think he is the right team in Delhi Capital. He has scored 90 runs recently. Yusuf Pathan. He is my last batsman. He has scored the fastest 100 for RR. He used to hit sixes a lot. He used to be scared of spinners. There are a lot of batsmen whom I could have joined. But I thought that they are the top 10 Indian batsmen,” Sehwag added.
