WAVES 2025 | Amitabh Bachchan-backed Tara Gaming unveils ‘The Age of Bhaarat’ AAA game: Watch announcement trailer

Gamers and game developers in India have much to look forward to at the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES), which kicked off at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai on Thursday. The four-day event coincided with a major announcement in the form of a AAA-game backed by Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan and author Amish Tripathi.
Developed by Tara Gaming, ‘The Age of Bhaarat’ is a third-person action role-playing game, set in a mythical world based on the Indian subcontinent. At the helm of the studio is gaming veteran Nouredine Abboud, joined by storyteller Tripathi and actor Bachchan, who was very much present at WAVES, including being part of the first panel discussion at the event.
Tara Gaming’s co-founder, Abboud, has major gaming titles to his credit from his time at Ubisoft and others. These include his contributions to titles such as ‘Ghost Recon’, ‘Driver’, and ‘Brothers in Arms’. Abboud was also the lead producer of ‘Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands’.
With ‘The Age of Bhaarat’, Tara Gaming has also collaborated with the UK government. During the keynote presentation at WAVES 2025, titled ‘Creative Bridges: Unlocking The Power of Cultural & Creative Partnerships Between the UK & India’, UK Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy highlighted the latest strides by the game developer. Tara Gaming, she said, was an example of “creating impactful cultural digital partnerships from the UK to India” in the gaming sector.
“Whether it is music, theatre, art, culture, gaming, or fashion, look what our partnerships can achieve,” she added.
WAVES 2025 is the Centre’s bid to present India as an international hub for media, film, and traditionally outlier sectors like gaming and animation.
“Now is the time to work together to put rocket boosters under our creative and cultural industries for growth, prosperity, and power,” stated the UK Culture Secretary. The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) seems to be doing just that with the maiden edition of WAVES.
Shortly after the announcement of the game, the trailer appeared on Tripathi’s social media page too.
The announcement trailer for ‘The Age of Bhaarat’ features a lot of cinematic cutscenes with an impact voice-over from Bachchan, but also showed some gameplay that is still in development, stressing on the title’s features, including co-op multiplayer, player traversal, fighting mechanics, and some world building.
The pre-alpha build gameplay showcased at different sections of the announcement trailer, however, bears similarity to the infamous 2024 AAA game ‘Black Myth: Wukong’ by Shenzhen-based developer, Game Science. How it evolves in the alpha and release builds of ‘The Age of Bhaarat’ is yet to be seen.
The title is currently listed on PC game stores Steam and Epic Games, letting gamers add to it to their wishlists. However, there is no word about the game releasing on consoles like the Sony PlayStation or the Microsoft XBox.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated WAVES 2025, stressing on the ‘Create in India’ mantra.

With game developers and title launches taking the stage at the summit, the Ministry and the government finally seem to be acknowledging the billion-dollar global gaming industry.
Apart from gaming, WAVES also looks to underline Indian creators in digital media, comics, and AR-VR-XR tech. With the summit, the centre expects increased global collaborations and investments in such sectors.
