'Still Navigating This New Life': Deepika Padukone On Embracing Motherhood With Baby Girl Dua

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone and husband Ranveer Singh welcomed their first child, a baby girl, in September 2024, and the new mommy has now opened up on how life has changed post embracing motherhood. On the sidelines of the WAVES 2025 event in Mumbai on Thursday, Deepika said that she is still trying to figure out life with an adorable new addition to it.

"I'm discovering this new life post embracing motherhood. The minute you've had a child, you're now responsible for another human being, and especially in the way I've led my life, it's been so much about me -- leaving home, my ambition, my career, and everything has been about my life and everything that I wanted for myself. And now, suddenly, you're caring for this thing, that is dependent on you for everything," she explained.

The Piku actress went on to say, "l've always wanted to be a mother, so I'm enjoying every bit of that, but I'm now also navigating what this new life for me post motherhood is. That person comes before you. I don't think I've found the answer to that yet."

During the event, Shah Rukh also congratulated Deepika on welcoming her baby girl, Dua, and said that she is now playing the best role of her life -- that of a mother. "I think the role she is going to play the best, Inshallah, now is that of a mother of Dua. I think she is really going to be a wonderful mother," he said, and his comment left Deepika blushing.

Deepika and Ranveer welcomed their bundle of joy on September 8, 2024, six years after they tied the knot. The actress is currently on a break from films, and reportedly, she will be next seen sharing the screen with SRK in his highly-anticipated film, King.
