Maharashtra Day 2025: Panvel Felicitates Women Frontline Workers, Firefighters To Represent India In Upcoming World Games

The Panvel Municipal Corporation marked Maharashtra Day by felicitating city’s women frontline workers. ASHA workers and women firefighters were honored for their services. 

Three ASHA workers were specially felicitated for their exemplary contributions under the National Urban Health Mission for the year 2024–25. Sunita Pandurang Sable received the first prize for her consistent dedication to community healthcare.  Menaka Krushnat Sawant was awarded second prize, while. Sunanda Babu Pethkar received third prize. 

"All three women were recognized for their grassroots work in improving public health, including maternal care, immunization drives, and health awareness in urban settlements," said an official. 

Adding to the celebratory occasion, two women firefighters from the Panvel Municipal Fire Brigade were honoured for their selection to represent India at the upcoming World Police and Fire Games 2025, which will be held in Alabama, USA. 

Shubhangi Ghule will compete in shot put, while Tejashree Salunkhe will participate in the tennis category. Commissioner Chitale congratulated both athletes and lauded their accomplishments as symbols of courage, discipline, and growing representation of women in uniformed services.

The Maharashtra Day event saw participation from civic officials, municipal employees, and citizens, all gathered to celebrate the dedication and achievements of women who continue to serve their community with commitment and distinction.
