Rohit Sharma has now scored over 6,000 runs for Mumbai Indians -- the first player to breach the landmark for the IPL franchise. According to reports, Rohit 'Hitman' Sharma, who kicked off his IPL journey with Deccan Chargers, is now the batter to score the second most runs for a single team in T20 cricket.

Rohit Sharma made 53 from 36 balls against Rajasthan Royals on Thursday at the Sawai Manshing Stadium to cross the 6,000-run mark. The whirlwind knock helped Rohit Sharma go past James Vince's tally of 5,934 runs for Hampshire. Virat Kohli's tally of 8,447 runs for Royal Challengers Bengaluru is the only one ahead of Sharma's tally.

Chennai Super Kings legends Suresh Raina (5,528) and MS Dhoni (5,394) are not very behind Sharma but their tally includes the runs they scored for Gujarat Lions and Pune Super Giants respectively when CSK was banned from contesting the IPL. Rohit Sharma's total pool is 6,921, the league's official website showed.

It was in the 2011 mega auction that Mumbai Indians brought Rohit Sharma home to Wankhede and the iconic skipper never left for another team. He has six IPL trophies to his credit (Five with MI, one with Deccan Chargers) which is the most by any player. Kieron Pollard, with 3,915 runs, is the second-highest runscorer for Mumbai Indians followed by Suryakumar Yadav (3,494), Ambati Rayudu (2,635) and Sachin Tendulkar (2,599).
