Burail jail inmate hurt in attack by fellow prisoner

An inmate of the Model Jail Burail was injured in an alleged assault by a fellow prisoner on the jail premises.

On the complaint of the victim, Bharat, a case under Sections 126(2), 115(2), 351(2), and 3(5) of the BNS was registered at the Sector 49 police station. Bharat is an accused in a murder case registered at the Mauli Jagran police station.

Bharat stated that the incident occurred on April 30 while he was playing cards with another inmate, identified as Bhola. An argument reportedly broke out between the two during the game. In the midst of the altercation, Janender, alias Ajay, also a jail inmate, allegedly intervened and began using abusive language. As Bharat tried to stop the verbal altercation, the situation escalated. Bhola allegedly retrieved a tap fitting from the barrack washroom and gave it to Janender, who then attacked Bharat with it.

The complainant suffered a facial injury in the attack, including a broken tooth and a laceration to his upper lip. Jail authorities rushed him to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, where he received medical treatment.
