Konkan Range Tops Maharashtra Police Reforms, Wins QCI Nod For Best Performance
In the final evaluation conducted by the Quality Council of India (QCI), the Office of the Special Inspector General of Police, Konkan Range has been recognized as the best performing range in Maharashtra under the state’s 100-day office reform programme. The assessment was based on ten key criteria, including website enhancement, improvement in office facilities, grievance redressal mechanisms, promotion of ease of living, encouragement of investment, and the use of technology.
As part of this reform initiative, the Konkan Range developed a user-friendly official website, www.konkanrange.mahapolice.gov.in. This website provides updated information related to the range and includes the contact details of all senior police officers, sub-divisional officers, and police station in-charges. It also features information related to the Right to Information Act (RTI) and provides links to important government departments.

“Under the "Ease of Living" innovation initiative, the office introduced a computerized complaint management system to ensure the effective and timely processing of citizen complaints,” said a statement released.
The Konkan Range achieved notable success under the CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal by tracing 3,308 of the 6,448 lost mobile phones and physically recovering 1,038 of them.
Special Inspector General of Police, Sanjay Darade, stated that in order to improve the public image of the police, officers were provided with soft skills training aimed at encouraging polite and respectful behavior with citizens.
Focusing on the health of police personnel, the office collaborated with nutritionist Sayali Bhosale to implement changes in diet and design a fitness schedule. This initiative resulted in significant health improvements among officers and staff, including reductions in weight, diabetes symptoms, and blood pressure levels within 30 days.
To make communication with the office more accessible for police officers and personnel, a virtual conferencing system was introduced. This system allows officers to raise and resolve their concerns remotely, without the need to travel long distances.
Additionally, improvements were made to the internal cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of police offices within the range. Facilities such as waiting areas, drinking water supply, and restrooms were renovated. Outdated documents were also cleared from office records to improve administrative efficiency.
Sanjay Darade Special IGP, Konkan range said, “Planned and coordinated implementation of these reforms across all ten government-mandated areas played a crucial role in the Konkan Range securing the top position in the state.” He further encouraged citizens to stay informed and connected with the Konkan Range through their official website and social media handles.
The range maintains a presence on Facebook (GP Konkan Range), Twitter/X (IGP Konkan Range), and Instagram (IGP Konkan Range), where the public can follow updates and initiatives from the police department.
