Hania Aamir denies viral ‘fake post’ blaming Pakistan Army for Pahalgam attack

Pakistani actress Hania Aamir has addressed and denied a viral social media post falsely attributed to her in the aftermath of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

The fabricated post blamed the Pakistan Army for the incident and urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to target Pakistani civilians in response.

The misleading screenshot, which circulated widely online, appeared to be an Instagram story from Hania Aamir.

It accused Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, of being responsible for the attack and called on the Indian government to distinguish between the actions of the military and the Pakistani public.

In response, Hania issued a statement via her verified Instagram account, clarifying that the quote was entirely false and did not reflect her views.

“Recently, a statement has been falsely attributed to me and is being widely circulated on social media. I want to address this directly: I did not make this statement, and I do not endorse or align with the words being linked to me. It is entirely fabricated and misrepresents who I am and what I believe," she wrote.

The actress expressed sympathy for the victims of the tragedy, emphasising the need for compassion rather than politicisation during such emotional times.

“This is a deeply sensitive and emotional time. My heart goes out to the innocent lives lost and the families affected by the recent tragedy. Pain like this is real, and it deserves empathy, not politicisation," she added.

Hania also urged the public to avoid generalizations and reminded people that the actions of extremists should not be used to judge entire nations or populations. “Assigning blame without proof only deepens divides and distracts from the real need for compassion, justice and healing,” she said.

Her statement comes at a time when Instagram profiles of several Pakistani celebrities — including Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar, and Sajal Aly — have been restricted in India.

The affected profiles now display a message stating: “Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content."

Concluding her message, Hania reaffirmed her commitment to promoting positivity and mutual respect: “I remain committed to spreading positivity and respect in all that I do."
