MP May 2 Weather Updates: Rains, Hail and Thunderstorm Likely In Several Districts Over Next 3 Days

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind and Morena woke up to strong winds and drizzles on Friday. A spell of hail and rain has been persisting in several parts of Madhya Pradesh, due to active cyclonic circulation. 

Weather conditions have changed in nearly half the state, bringing strong winds, thunderstorms, and hail in some areas.

Hail is likely in Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Mandla, and Balaghat. Strong winds with speeds up to 50–60 km/h are expected in Katni, Umaria, Shahdol, Anuppur, Dindori, Jabalpur, and Narsinghpur.

Cities such as Bhopal, Gwalior, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Damoh, Sagar, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Rajgarh, Vidisha, Sehore, Raisen, Harda, Narmadapuram, Betul, Mauganj, Sidhi, and Singrauli may experience thunder, lightning, and light rain.

What do meteorologists say?

According to IMD Bhopal’s senior meteorologist, wind may have a velocity of 50 to 60 km/h in Katni, Umaria, Shahdol, Anuppur, Dindori, Jabalpur, and Narsinghpur.

Additionally, there are chances of thunderstorms and light rain in several other districts including Bhopal, Gwalior, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Damoh, Sagar, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Rajgarh, Vidisha, Sehore, Raisen, Harda, Narmadapuram, Betul, Mauganj, Sidhi, and Singrauli.

According to the Meteorological Department, May is usually the hottest month in Madhya Pradesh. Looking at the trend over the past 10 years, temperatures in several cities have touched 47 to 48°C.

On May 3, hail is expected in Umaria, Shahdol, Anuppur, and Dindori. Rain and thunderstorms are also expected in Katni, Balaghat, Mandla, Seoni, Chhindwara, and Pandhurna. Strong winds are likely in Bhopal, Gwalior, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Agar-Malwa, Ujjain, Dewas, Shajapur, Ratlam, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Barwani, Khargone, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Narmadapuram, Betul, Chhindwara, Narsinghpur, Raisen, Sehore, Vidisha, Harda, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, and Singrauli.

Whereas, on May 4, strong winds of 50–60 km/h are likely in Satna, Rewa, Maihar, Mauganj, Sidhi, and Singrauli. Thunderstorms and light rain are possible in Mandsaur, Agar-Malwa, Guna, Raisen, Shivpuri, Vidisha, Ujjain, Dewas, Sehore, Bhopal, Rajgarh, Sagar, Damoh, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Jabalpur, Katni, Dindori, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Betul, and Harda.

Temperature records

Earlier, on Thursday, Dindori reported hail, and over 25 districts experienced rainfall or cloudy weather.

On May 1, Ujjain, Shajapur, Ratlam, Guna, and Narsinghpur recorded temperatures above 43°C. Shajapur was the hottest at 43.7°C. Bhopal recorded 42.5°C, Indore 42°C, Jabalpur 40.2°C, and Gwalior 39.6°C.
