India may take another tough decision against Pakistan, can stop…, Indira Gandhi had also stopped it during…

New Delhi: The terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam has further escalated tensions between India and Pakistan. The terror attack, which took place on April 22, was a tragic incident that shook the entire world. As per several media reports, New Delhi is preparing to take another strict step against Pakistan. Sources stated that India may soon completely stop the postal service with the neighbouring country.

Postal Service Has Already Been Banned

The history of postal service between both the countries are full of ups and downs due to the volatile bilateral relationship. In 2019, when tensions between the two countries were at their peak after the Pulwama attack, India had stopped postal services with Pakistan. However, this was not the first time, during 1971 war, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had also stopped postal services with Pakistan. India not only won the war but also liberated Bangladesh by dividing Pakistan into two parts.

Impact Of Closing The Postal Service?

Suspending postal services in Pakistan poses a major threat to its struggling economy. The postal system plays a crucial role beyond personal correspondence, facilitating small businesses, document exchange, and government communication. This action comes at a time when Pakistan’s economy is already severely strained, grappling with 38.5% inflation in 2023 and critically low foreign exchange reserves.

Notably, the closure of the postal service will be a big blow to people dependent on the e-commerce in Pakistan. It will also be a big diplomatic step by New Delhi and will reflect its tough stand. India is working on a strategy to put pressure on every front to teach Pak a lesson after the Pahalgam attack.

After Pakistan’s withdrawal from the Shimla Agreement, the doors for military action in PoK have now opened for India. But New Delhi is currently working on a strategy to bring Pakistan to its knees by putting pressure on the diplomatic and economic fronts.

India’s Strong Message

India’s response to the Pahalgam attack underscores its belief that Pakistan will not show restraint. Suspending postal services with Pakistan could negatively impact Pakistan’s economy and serve as a strong signal of India’s preparedness. However, the effectiveness of this measure in deterring future aggression, or its potential to escalate tensions, remains uncertain. This action signifies a shift in India’s approach, moving from diplomatic communication to a more assertive stance.
