Major General Lisamma P.V. from Kerala takes charge as new head of Military Nursing Service

Major General Lisamma P.V. has taken over as the new Additional Director General (ADG) of the Military Nursing Service (MNS), the top post in the nursing wing of the Indian Army. She assumed the role on Thursday, after Major General Sheena P.D. retired on April 30 after 40 years of service.
Major General Lisamma hails from Kollam district in Kerala and is an alumna of the School of Nursing at Military Hospital, Jalandhar.
She joined the MNS in 1986 and has nearly four decades of experience in military healthcare.

She has served in several key positions, including as Principal of the College of Nursing at Command Hospital Air Force (Bengaluru), Principal Matron at Command Hospital (Eastern Command), and most recently, as Principal Matron at Army Hospital (Research & Referral), New Delhi.
She holds degrees in Arts and Law, and a Master’s in Hospital Administration. Known for her focus on training, research, and evidence-based nursing practices, Major General Lisamma is widely respected in military medical circles.
