Tragic! Pickup Van Carrying Wedding Guests Overturns In Vidisha, 4 Dead Including A Woman, 8 Injured; CM Announces Compensation Of ₹2 Lakh
Vidisha (Madhya Pradesh): A tragic incident occurred late Thursday night at 10 pm where a pickup van full of wedding guests lost control and overturned in Vidhisha. Four people including a woman lost their lives, 8 people sustained severe injuries, one critical.
According to the information, the vehicle was returning from a wedding procession to Aulikheda village of Indore. It was carrying 16 passengers including women, small children and men. Reportedly most of them worked in stone grinding stone manufacturing.
The bride and groom were in a separate vehicle and are safe
Lateri SDOP Ajay Mishra rushed to the site immediately and the injured were sent to a nearby hospital where 3 people were declared dead. The fourth victim succumbed to injuries and died during the treatment. Seven patients were referred to Vidisha District Hospital, with one in critical condition.
The bride and groom were traveling in a separate vehicle and are reported to be safe.
Driver's four family members died
Driver Toofan Singh who was driving the vehicle expressed his pain and said, "We were heading home in Indore after the wedding. On the way, the car overturned before the valley. I don’t know how the car overturned but I lost my brother, sister, maternal uncle's son and brother-in-law in the accident."
Compensation of ₹2 lakhs for the deceased's family
Madhya Pradesh CM Dr. Mohan Yadav expressed his grief over the the accident and promised a financial compensation of ₹2 lakhs for the deceased's family and ₹50,000 for the injured victims.
Yadav directed the officials to ensure the best medical care possible for the injured victims.
