23-Yr-Old Surat Teacher Who Eloped With Minor Student Claims Pregnancy; POCSO Case Filed

Surat: A new twist has come to light in the case in which a 23-year-old tuition teacher had eloped with her 11-year-old student in Surat. During the investigation, it has been reveled that the teacher has been found to be pregnant with the student’s child. A case of sexual abuse of a minor has been registered. Both teacher and student will undergo medical examinations.

She has confessed that the pregnancy resulted from her relationship with the minor. Based on this admission, police have booked her under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. She was produced before a court on Thursday, which granted one-day police custody.

Prima-facie, it was reported that the 23-year-old teacher had absconded with her 11-year-old student. However, it later emerged that the boy was actually 13. They were nabbed near the Rajasthan-Gujarat border and brought back to Surat from the Shamlaji area after four days of manhunt.

During the interrogation, it was revealed that the student and the teacher had developed affection towards for each other. As a result, they decided to run away together. 

The father of the minor, in his complaint, alleged that his son had gone missing with his teacher, who lived in the same society. CCTV footage from the society showed the teacher had taken the boy with her. Following this, the police formed multiple teams to trace the duo.

According to the police, on April 25,Mansi left Surat with her student and reached Ahmedabad and then Delhi via Vadodara by bus. From there, both of them also went to Jaipur and stayed in a hotel for two nights.
