Pierce Brosnan, Samuel L. Jackson team up for revenge Western 'The Unholy Trinity'

Two of cinema's biggest names are joining hands for The Unholy Trinity, a Western with revenge as its key theme. Pierce Brosnan and Samuel L Jackson are part of director Richard Gray's film which has a script by Lee Zachariah and co-stars Brandon Lessard, David Arquette, Veronica Ferres, Tim Daly, Ethan Peck, and Q’orianka Kilcher. The film is slated for release in the US on June 13.

As per Deadline, the entertainment outlet that reported the news, The Unholy Trinity is a "tale of revenge, dark secrets, and buried treasures" told against the "turbulent backdrop of 1870s Montana." It concerns a young man tasked with carrying out the mission of killing the man who framed his father for a crime that led to the latter getting caught in the hangman's noose. His enquiries lead him to a town where he encounters two enigmatic characters, a sheriff played by Brosnan and a mysterious character played by Jackson.

Jonathan Saba and Shanan Becker, Co-Presidents of Saban Films, which has grabbed the North American rights of the film, said in a statement: “This film embodies everything we love about Westerns— an exploration of lawlessness vs. justice, civilization vs. the frontier, and a trio of gunslingers navigating a morally complex world. The Unholy Trinity is anchored by two absolute legends in Samuel L. Jackson and Pierce Brosnan, whose chemistry and gravitas, combined with Richie’s bold vision, make for an unforgettable ride. We’re excited for audiences to experience the vast, sweeping landscapes and pulse-pounding showdowns of this electrifying film on the big screen.”

While this marks the first time that Brosnan and Jackson are seen in a movie together, the actors are not strangers to the Western genre. Brosnan previously did one in 2006, Seraphim Falls, with Liam Neeson. Jackson, on the other hand, most recently appeared in two Westerns directed by Quentin Tarantino — Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight
