Congress top brass, 2 CMs huddle to discuss caste census, Pahalgam attack at CWC meeting in Delhi

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting began on Friday here to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack and the government’s announcement to include caste enumeration in the next national Census.

The party’s top brass, including two chief ministers from Telangana, Revanth Reddy, and Himachal Pradesh, Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, are participating in the meeting, sources informed. The top leaders who have arrived for the meeting include Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh, Pawan Khera, Ambika Soni, Salman Khurshid, Rajiv Shukla, and others.

They said the CWC will devise a strategy on how the party can claim its “brainchild,” which is the caste census. The CWC is also going to deliberate over the allocation of funds for the caste enumeration exercise and press for its holding soon. Also, the CWC is likely to pass a resolution seeking action against Pakistan over the Pahalgam terror attack.

Several senior party leaders were also present, including Sachin Pilot, Syed Nasir Hussain, Rajni Patil, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, KC Venugopal, GM Mir, Kanhaiya Kumar, Bhupesh Baghel, Charanjit Singh Chaani, and Deepa Das Munshi.
