Rajasthan Sees 20% Surge In NEET Registrations; Tops In Qualification Rate Among Major States
With a major coaching hub in Kota and emerging centers like Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Sikar, Rajasthan has witnessed swift growth in NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) registrations over the past couple of years.
According to data from the National Testing Agency (NTA), the five states with the highest number of NEET registrations in 2024 were Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. Among these, Rajasthan has shown the most significant growth, with registrations rising from 1,48,364 in 2023 to 1,78,756 in 2024 — an increase of nearly 20%.
Experts expect this upward trend to continue into 2025. The surge is largely attributed to the magnetism of Kota’s premier coaching institutes, which have firmly established Rajasthan as a major educational hub, with Kota being regarded as the coaching capital of India.
Notably, among the top three states — Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan — Rajasthan recorded the highest percentage of NEET-qualified candidates.
In 2023, out of 1,48,364 registered candidates from Rajasthan, 1,00,316 qualified — a success rate of approximately 67%. Similarly, in 2024, 1,78,756 students registered, of whom 1,21,240 qualified — again more than 67%, maintaining the highest qualifying ratio among the major states.
With nearly 23 lakh students appearing for NEET this Sunday, Rajasthan is expected to maintain its growth in student registrations this year as well.
Nitin Vijay, Founder & CEO of Motion Education, stated that Rajasthan's emergence as a major coaching hub has driven this rise in registrations. He also praised the NTA for conducting standardized, transparent, and fair entrance examinations for higher education, thereby promoting a more equitable and merit-based selection process. He acknowledged that conducting NEET at such a large scale is a herculean task for the agency.
