Ruling party workers annoyed with own govt: BJP

State BJP spokesperson and Naina Devi MLA Randhir Sharma today said that the Congress was plagued with factionalism and there was complete disillusionment among party workers over the dismal performance of their government.

Sharma, while addressing mediapersons here, said there was so much resentment among Congress workers that yesterday, they demanded the resignation of two ministers and asked Congress president Pratibha Singh to step down if she could not function properly. “Seeing total disappointment among the Congress leaders and cadres, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu should resign in the interest of the state,” he alleged.

He said, “The state Congress president appeared helpless at the meeting in Bilaspur, as she admitted that despite her repeated pleas to everyone, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and state Congress in-charge Rajni Patil, the Congress bodies both at the state and district level have not been revamped.”

Sharma said that the Congress workers expressed their anguish over the party organisation being totally defunct. “Not just this, they also raised questions on the functioning of the state government and the paucity of funds adversely impacting development works,” he added. Even ministers were unhappy and had a major difference of opinion with the Chief Minister.

“The Congress workers and leaders have validated the BJP’s allegations that all development works in the state have come to a standstill. Rather works started by the previous BJP regime, too, have come to a standstill due to the fund crunch,” he alleged.

Sharma said the Chief Minister said that there was no money for development works but he had appointed several advisers and OSDs. “The payments of contractors are due but there is no check on wasteful expenditure by the Congress government. The situation is so bad that even employees and pensioners are not getting their salaries and pension on time,” he alleged.
