Trial run of two traffic lights completed in Kurukshetra
To improve traffic management at two of the city’s busiest junctions—Pipli Chowk and the new bus stand—two new traffic lights have been installed in Kurukshetra. A trial run has been successfully completed, while the installation of 59 blinkers is expected to take place later this month.
These spots frequently experience high volumes of traffic, particularly during peak hours. A budget of Rs 70 lakh was approved last year for the installation of the two lights and blinkers across various locations. Earlier, traffic lights had been installed at Pipli, the new bus stand and Umri Chowk, but they had remained defunct for several years.
Rajnish Kumar, a local resident, said, “There were traffic lights in the past too, but in the absence of proper maintenance, the lights got defunct. There are a number of locations, including Mohan Nagar, Birla Mandir, Ambedkar Chowk, Kurukshetra University and near the grain market, where more traffic lights need to be installed.”
