MLA Bahu chairs RKS meeting at Govt Hospital Gandhi Nagar

JAMMU, May 2: Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar hosted a meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) – the Patient Welfare Committee – to deliberate on initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care services. The meeting was chaired by MLA Bahu, Vikram Randhawa, who also serves as the Chairman of the committee.
The gathering was attended by Chief Medical Officer Jammu, Dr Harbaksh Singh; Deputy Medical Superintendent (MS), Dr Balvinder Singh; and representatives from departments including PWD, PDD, PHE, AYUSH, Information and ICS. Prominent community members such as Dr Sunita Puri, Rahul (ex-corporator) and Akhil also participated, along with hospital staff including Dr Sanjeev, Dr Poonam Manhas and Dr Ruchita Mahajan.
The meeting focused on a series of quality improvement measures, including upgrading hospital infrastructure and extending support to patients admitted without attendants. Other key issues discussed were the implementation of patient safety protocols, introduction of dress codes for hospital staff, and addressing workforce shortages across departments.
As part of the proceedings, the Chairman took a detailed round of the hospital premises, including visits to the Pediatrics Ward, OPD Block, Blood Bank, Maternity Ward, and NICU. During his interactions with patients and their attendants, he sought feedback on services and encouraged hospital staff to continue working with dedication and enthusiasm.
Acknowledging the Hospital’s critical role in serving both urban and rural populations, the Committee emphasized the importance of strengthening its healthcare capabilities to meet public needs effectively.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Balvinder Singh.
