India on Saturday banned direct or indirect exports of goods from Pakistan in the wake of Pahalgam terror attack. The Union commerce ministry said the decision has been taken in the interest of national security.
In a notification issued on Friday, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade under the commerce ministry said the foreign trade policy has been amended to ban imports from Pakistan. "Direct or indirect import or transit of all goods originating in or exported from Pakistan whether or not freely importable or otherwise permitted, shall be prohibited with immediate effect, until further orders," the notification read.
"This restriction is imposed in the interest of national security and public policy. Any exception to this prohibition shall require prior approval of the Government of India," it read. India's move comes in continuation of a spree of diplomatic measures India has initiated against its neighbour over the gruesome terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
