'Did Not Sleep For 28 Days, Was Tough': Hrithik Roshan's Sister Sunaina Roshan Recalls Rehab Journey Due To Alcohol Addiction

Actor Hrithik Roshan's sister, Sunaina Roshan, has been open about her struggles with alcohol addiction. She recently shared her experience of her time in rehab, describing it as a 'tough' journey. Despite the challenges, she spoke about how she fought her battles and ultimately succeeded in overcoming her addiction. She revealed that she was going through a vulnerable stage, battling tuberculosis and cancer, along with other illnesses such as a severe attack of herpes zoster. Exhausted by her health struggles, she turned to alcohol as a way to cope.

Sunaina revealed that after a month, she asked her family to send her to rehab abroad, as she couldn't take it anymore. She admitted that she would drink from morning till night, and that was the only time she disliked herself.

Talking about her time in rehab, she told Pinkvilla, "In rehab, 6–7 counsellors were grilling me. I did not sleep for 28 days while I was there. They would ask questions, getting everything out of your system. No perfume, coffee, sugar, or chocolate—nothing addictive was allowed. It was tough. There was no urge to drink—I was too tired from being grilled for 6–7 hours. It was the toughest thing. But it helped me a lot."

She shared that during her time in rehab, she wasn’t concerned about who would find out, as her only focus was on getting cured.

Furthermore, Sunaina recalled injuring herself after drinking. She added, "I would fall off beds and chairs and get marks on my body, like injuries. I have gone through it all. Once you're at a vulnerable stage, your body wants more every day—it's a vicious cycle. When the effect of alcohol wears off, you get anxiety, dehydration, and palpitations. So, to cover it up, you drink more. During those months, you feel good, but the aftereffects are terrible."

Sunaina shared that she no longer has the urge to drink, but she enjoys a drink or two when attending important functions with family, just to fuel herself up; otherwise, she would crash to sleep.
