Pahalgam terror attack: India keeps hammering Pakistan, blocks its Minister’s X account after he claimed…

The X (formerly Twitter) account of Pakistan’s Information Minister, Ataullah Tarar, has been blocked in India. This happened just days after he held a press conference at 2 am where he claimed that India was planning a military strike against Pakistan.

In that press conference on April 30, Tarar said he had ‘credible information’ that India might take military action within the next 24 to 36 hours. He warned that such an action could lead to ‘catastrophic consequences’. He also said, “The nation will defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity by all means necessary. If India tries to start a war, it will be fully responsible for the terrible results.” Tarar added that “India’s habit of being the judge, jury, and executioner is completely rejected by Pakistan”.

When users in India tried to access his X account, a message showed up saying the account was ‘withheld for legal reason’.

Cross-border tensions have been rising since the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, which killed 26 civilians. After that, there were several steps taken by both countries that worsened the situation. Pakistan has been violating the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) for nine nights in a row, including Friday night.

Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khwaja Asif, also spoke about the possibility of war. He told Geo News, a Pakistani TV channel, “If something is going to happen, it will happen in the next two or three days.”

India has responded strongly after the Pahalgam attack. It downgraded diplomatic relations with Pakistan, suspended the Indus Waters Treaty that was signed in 1960, and cancelled all visas issued to Pakistani citizens. The Wagah-Attari border crossing has also been shut down.

In addition to the Minister’s account being blocked, Instagram accounts of famous Pakistani actors such as Hania Amir, Mahira Khan, and Ali Zafar were also blocked in India.

YouTube channels belonging to Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and major news outlets like Dawn News, Irshad Bhatti, SAMAA TV, ARY NEWS, and Geo News were also blocked in India.
