Varinder Kumar posted as PHRC Special DGP
The state government on Saturday issued posting orders for four senior officers who had been awaiting it for several weeks.
Former Vigilance Director Varinder Kumar has been posted as Special DGP, Punjab Human Rights Commission (PHRC), while Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) RK Jaiswal has been posted as Director, NRI Wing.
Both these officers had been awaiting posting for several weeks. The government had removed Varinder Kumar as Vigilance Chief on February 18 without any official explanation. Similarly, ADGP Jaiswal was removed from the sensitive post of Intelligence chief of the Punjab Police on April 7.
IPS officer Kuldeep Chahal, who was removed as Commissioner of Police on March 20, has been posted as DIG, Technical Services, Punjab. IPS Tushar Gupta, who was also awaiting posting, has been posted as AIG, Provisioning, and SSP, Sadak Surakhya Force.
Patiala SSP Nanak Singh, has been given the charge of DIG, Patiala, after the retirement of Mandeep Singh Sidhu. IPS Varun Sharma has been posted as SSP, Patiala.
Nanak Singh was at the centre of a controversy over assault on an Army Colonel and his son by police personnel. Family members of the Army officer and several serving and ex-servicemen had sought his transfer from the district.
