Actress Accuses Ajaz Khan Of Rape Under Pretext Of Marriage, Mumbai Police Registers Case Amid House Arrest Controversy
Actor Ajaz Khan, who was recently in news over the controversy surrounding his reality show, House Arrest, has now been booked by the Mumbai Police after an actress accused him of sexually assaulting her under the pretence of marriage.
In her complaint to the Charkop police, the actress alleged that Khan offered her a role in his OTT show House Arrest and later proposed to her, promising marriage. She claimed that he raped her at his residence on March 25 and again a few days later, both times assuring her he would marry her. She also alleged that Khan told her his religion allows four marriages, and thus, he would marry her even though he was already married.
The allegations by the actress are now being investigated by the Charkop police station officials.
The rape allegation comes days after Khan was booked by the Amboli Police after the Bajrang Dal filed an FIR against his OTT show, House Arrest, for showing women in a vulgar and indecent manner.
What is the House Arrest controversy?
For those unversed, several videos from the reality show, House Arrest, which streams on the Ullu app, had gone viral a few days ago, sparking nationwide outrage. In the videos, Khan, who hosts the show, was seen asking female contestants to try and perform different sex positions with the male contestants. While a female contestant stated that she had no idea about it, Khan pressurised her to perform the task, and others were seen cheering and hooting.
As the videos went viral, the National Commission for Women (NCW) summoned Ullu CEO Vibhu Agarwal and Khan on May 9 after taking suo motu cognisance of the controversy. "Viral clips show women being coerced into intimate acts on camera. NCW slams the platform for promoting vulgarity & violating consent," NCW said in a post on X.
Meanwhile, the show has now been taken down from the Ullu app -- an OTT platform known for mostly streaming adult-rated content.
