Pahalgam terror attack: NCW asks netizens to ‘express with decency’ views against victim Vinay Narwal's wife, condemns trolls

The National Commission for Women condemned trolls against Himanshi Narwal, wife of Navy Lieutenant Vinay Narwal killed in the Pahalgam terror attack. The Commission said opposing views must be expressed "decently".
Condemning trolls against Himanshi, the Commission said, "It is not appropriate to troll a woman by targeting her ideological expression or personal life." The Commission's comments after Himanshi faced widespread criticism for her comments after the Pahalgam terror attack.
Himanshi asked people not to target Muslims and Kashmiris in the aftermath of gruesome terror attack. "We do not want people going after Muslims and Kashmiris," she had said.
As many as 26 persons were killed in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22. The deceased include a local horse rider, a Nepali citizen and 24 tourists. The newlywed couple were on a honeymoon tour in Jammu and Kashmir when the attack happened.
Condemning the trolls against Himanshi, NCW chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar said the entire country is hurt and enraged by the Pahalgam terror attack. "After the death of Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, the way his wife, Ms. Himanshi Narwal, is being criticized on social media in reference to one of her statements is unfortunate," she said.
"Perhaps her reaction did not sit well with the outraged people. However, any form of agreement or disagreement should always be expressed with decency and within constitutional limits," the Commission chairperson stressed.
Rahatkar added, "It is not appropriate to troll a woman by targeting her ideological expression or personal life. The dignity and respect of every woman are invaluable."
