Weather Update: Delhi-NCR is expected to experience light rain with thunderstorms, lightning and strong surface winds during the next 24 hours. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert for various regions of India on Monday, May 5.
IMD Forecasts Heavy Rain: Heavy rain has been predicted in Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha today i.e. on April 6. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds in Bihar, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Assam, Manipur and West Bengal for the next 24 hours. Hot weather conditions are expected to persist in Kerala and Mahe, the IMD said. Dust storms with rain may occur in parts of eastern Rajasthan on Monday. According to the weather agency, hailstorms along with rain are also expected in Chhattisgarh, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha and Uttarakhand today.

IMD Forecast
– Delhi-NCR region is expected to witness light rain with thunderstorms, lightning and strong surface winds on May 5. Winds may temporarily increase to 30-40 km/h, gusting up to 50 km/h during thunderstorms.
– IMD has issued an orange alert warning for several states including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Telangana and parts of Andhra Pradesh.
– IMD has issued an orange alert for parts of Vidarbha (Chandrapur and Gadchiroli). While a yellow alert has been issued for Thane, Palghar, Pune, Nashik, Jalgaon, Satara, parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada.
– Mumbai and Navi Mumbai are expected to witness light to moderate rain/thundershowers on Monday, May 5.
– Rain is also expected in Assam. Apart from this, rain is also expected in large areas of North India including Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana.
– The weather department will continue till May 6, 2025. The intensity and extent of weather activity is likely to be damaging and frightening in some areas.
– The IMD has advised the residents of the affected areas to remain alert and take necessary precautions due to adverse weather conditions throughout the day.
– The Meteorological Department has predicted that there is a possibility of rain and thunderstorms in Mumbai today i.e. on May 5.
– The sky appears to be overcast in early May. The wind speed will be around 5 kilometers per hour at 9 am on Monday.
