Mahajan Imaging & Labs brings North India’s first 128 Slice Digital PET-CT- Omni Legend Scanner

New Delhi: Mahajan Imaging & Labs, a pioneer in advanced diagnostics and medical imaging, inaugurated North India’s first 128 Slice Digital PET-CT -Omni Legend by GE HealthCare and state of the art Pathology lab.
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered 128 Slice Digital PET CT- Omni Legend scanner has the industry’s best spatial resolution of 1.4mm enabling early cancer detection and accurate staging. With the most advanced digital detector and advanced features such as Precision DL, AI-based lesion identification, and 60% lower radiation exposure, the system ensures safer, faster scans while delivering high resolution images.
Commenting on the milestone while inaugurating the Digital PET CT and Lab, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology said, “As someone who has served both in the medical field and public service, I understand the pivotal role that early and accurate diagnosis plays in the battle against cancer. The introduction of advanced digital PET-CT technology in North India marks more than a technological achievement—it is a beacon of hope for countless families. It exemplifies how we are leveraging innovation with empathy to build a healthier, more equitable future for our citizens The Central Government recognizes the cancer burden and has taken serious measures to ensure access to cancer care by setting up 200 Day Care Cancer Centres in district hospitals this year besides full Customs Duty exemption on 36 cancer, rare and chronic diseases.”
Explaining the need for mass screening of cancer, Dr. Singh said, “I firmly believe that a holistic, preventive approachrooted in innovation, public-private partnerships, and community awareness is essential to building a healthier future. It is the collective national responsibility of all healthcare providers to ensure mass screening of cancers. I call on the private sector to work with the Government to develop innovative technology for affordable and accessible cancer screening across India. Together, we can transform cancer outcomes and move closer to a cancer-free India.”
Early detection remains critical, as over 70% of cancer cases in India are diagnosed at advanced stages, largely due to low awareness and lack of organized screening programs, which leads to high mortality rates. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and data published in The Lancet, the mortality-to-incidence ratio for cancer in India was 64.47% in 2022, meaning that nearly two out of three cancer patients succumbed to the disease after diagnosis. Expanding access to advanced screening can play a pivotal role in improving survival rates and reducing the nation’s cancer burden.
Dr. Harsh Mahajan, Founder & Chairman, Mahajan Imaging & Labs, shared his thoughts, “The launch of our new 128 Slice Digital PET-CT scanner in Gurugram marks a major leap forward in delivering technology-driven cancer diagnostics. With next-generation digital PET-CT scanners, AI-powered imaging, and integrated pathology support, we are empowering clinicians with the precision tools needed for early, accurate detection and better treatment outcomes. Our commitment is to continually raise the bar in oncology care through innovation.”
In the same vein, Kabir Mahajan, COO, Mahajan Imaging & Labs, shared – “Our expansion in Delhi NCR responds to the growing need for advanced oncology diagnostics powered by cutting-edge technology. In the last 12 months, we have added a 160 Slice Dual Energy CT, a pathology lab and now by bringing a 128 Slice digital PET-CT with AI-enhanced workflows, in the most patient friendly ambiance to Gurugram, we are making world-class cancer care more accessible and redefining the standard of diagnostic excellence for the community. The Gururam facility is now our second facility in NCR region where offer all tests diagnostic tests under one roof- from routine Haemoglobin to complex biopsies and from X-ray to Digital PET CT.” He further stated that “With such advanced diagnostic capabilities we also have a chance to assess the efficacy of new age cancer treatments and interventions including CAR-T cell therapy by working with pharmaceutical companies thereby amplifying the impact of our diagnostic capabilities”.
In India, cancer remains a significant public health challenge, with over 14.9 lakh new cases estimated in 2023 according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The crude incidence rate stands at about 100 cases per one lakh population. Concerningly so, projections indicate that cancer incidence will further increase to 1.57 million new diagnoses by 2025, representing a 12.8% rise compared to 2020.
Powered by digital BGO (dBGO) detector technology, a wider axial field of view, and advanced reconstruction algorithms like Q.Clear, the new 128 Slice Digital PET CT at Mahajan Imaging & Labs, Gurugram scanner ensures unmatched sensitivity, superior image quality, and lower radiotracer doses. These features are particularly valuable for vulnerable populations such as children and elderly patients, where shorter scan durations and reduced radiation exposure are crucial for safety and comfort.
AI-driven workflow tools further streamline scan setup and post-processing, minimizing patient wait times and reducing the chance of motion artifacts—especially helpful for paediatric patients who may struggle to remain still and older individuals with mobility challenges.
Integrated diagnostics, an approach that combines advanced imaging with pathology and molecular testing, is essential for effective cancer management. AI-driven lesion detection, streamlined reporting, and remote access enable timely, multidisciplinary decision-making, while specialized protocols like PSMA PET-CT and Gallium DOTANOC PET-CT further strengthen Mahajan Imaging & Labs’ advanced oncology services.
