Speaking to reporters, Tanvir clarified that the recommendations had not been “rejected,” as reported in some sections of the media. Instead, he said, certain queries were raised, which have now been duly addressed.
“Who told you the recommendations were rejected? There were a few queries, and today the cabinet, which met in the morning, has prepared responses to those. The reply will now be sent back to the Raj Bhawan,” he said.
Tanvir added, “I think it’s a work in progress; this is how the process works. Queries were raised, and they have been answered. Don’t go by media reports-things will soon become clear.”
Speaking about the impact of the Pahalgam terror attack on tourism, Tanvir acknowledged that there had indeed been a setback and said it was now time for tourists to start returning to Kashmir.
“There has been an impact from the April 22 incident-it has affected tourism. Now is the time for tourists to come back. States should send tourists again, and they are making efforts in that direction,” he said.
He emphasized that the people of Kashmir have stood with the country and that it is now the country’s responsibility to help revive Kashmir’s tourism economy.
On the issue of the Darbar Move, Tanvir said that the tradition holds significance for both Kashmir and Jammu and has served as a “bond” between the two regions.
He assured that the government would fulfill its promise to restore the practice. “We are working on it. By next winter, you will see improvement, and the Government will fulfill its promise of resuming the Darbar Move,” he said.
