‘Will launch statewide stir if state fails to swiftly deport Pak citizens’

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest on Monday, demanding immediate action against Pakistani nationals residing in Himachal Pradesh. The protest was led by BJP state general secretary Bihari Lal Sharma, who also submitted a memorandum to the Governor and Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner.

Addressing the media, Sharma condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 27 innocent Indian citizens were killed by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists. He squarely blamed the Pakistan government and its intelligence agency for orchestrating the assault.

Sharma highlighted the Centre’s firm response to the attack, including the revocation of the Indus Waters Treaty and the downgrading of diplomatic ties with Pakistan. He noted that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed all states to identify and deport Pakistan nationals. However, Sharma criticised the Himachal Pradesh government for its lack of action in this regard.

“If the state government fails to swiftly identify and deport Pakistan nationals, BJP will launch a statewide agitation,” Sharma warned.

Balh MLA Inder Singh Gandhi backed the demand, stressing the need to deport all Pakistan nationals—legal or illegal—for national security. Also present at the protest were former minister Anil Sharma, district BJP president Nihal Chand Sharma, Zila Parishad president Pal Verma and Mayor Virender Bhatt.

The protest underscored the BJP’s strong stance on national security and urged the Himachal government to align with the Centre’s decisive approach to addressing the presence of Pakistani nationals in India.
